The Value Of Deep Cleaning Your Carpets

By Jessica Morter

Your carpet is one of the most prized possessions in your household. It adds to the beauty of your home while it cushions your every movement on the carpeted area. It can also become one of the largest expenses in your home maintenance, if you do not know how to take care of it.

If you ask any carpet manufacturer, they will recommend that you get your carpet cleaned every 2 years. They are talking about a thorough steam cleaning and not the regular vacuuming you should be doing every two weeks to a month. Vacuuming will just clean some of the surface dirt and dust and is not the same as real steam cleaning.

Your carpet will collect all sorts of dirt, oil, smoke, sand, and grease from the normal daily wear and tear of people walking on it. All these things will damage your carpets fibers and so routine maintenance is needed to get these elements.

Having your carpet properly maintained can preserve its original sheen. The accumulated dirt can reduce its natural luster and eventually would affect the aesthetic beauty of your home. Since most carpets today are petroleum based, their prices skyrocketed overtime, as well. Therefore, buying a new carpet is actually more expensive than having it routinely cleaned.

There is also a heath concern that can come from dirty carpets and ones that are not regularly cleaned. If you fail to properly clean your carpets for long periods, they can gather all sorts of harmful elements that may contribute to asthma and other such conditions.

If you have active children running around the house, chances are your carpet has been subject to the daily torture of the sticky mess they leave on their wake. At one point, you may even have gum stuck on the fibers. The best way to remove any sticky residue is to use a steam cleaner. Steam cleaning your carpets every year and routinely vacuuming them is just a smart choice that every homeowner should make.
